Ann Althouse discusses a column in the Daily Cardinal (the student newspaper of the University of Wisconsin) about an overwhelmingly positive Madison response to a speaker who argues that the World Trade Center attacks were planned by the U.S. government.
Personally, I’m not sure what’s more unnerving: the fact that the Daily Cardinal‘s headline and article text include the non-word “theologist” (an obvious “fictition” if I’ve ever seen one), or the fact that so many people apparently believe this nonsense.
Prof. Althouse also links to a methodical dissection of 9/11 conspiracy theories in Popular Mechanics; the same issue includes this strongly-worded editorial, in which Jim Meigs asserts:
…in a culture shaped by Oliver Stone movies and “X-Files” episodes, it is apparently getting harder for simple, hard facts to hold their own against elaborate, shadowy theorizing.
Scientists attempt to infer the best explanation for observable phenomena. The “best” explanation is often the simplest — that is, the one that needs to account for the fewest special cases, and the one that requires accepting the fewest auxiliary premises. I think Meigs is right, and there is a cultural shift towards a desire to accept the most “interesting” hypothesis. Unfortunately, the most “interesting” hypothesis is often the least plausible.

If the pseudonymous commenters (if they are in fact distinct persons) on this post need a web site to vent on, might I suggest Democratic Underground, or maybe a David Duke fan forum. Those are the only sorts of places I know where the sorts of “arguments” these commenters advance would be taken seriously. I must assume, though, that “Dagger” and “Breaker” don’t believe their own assertions, since anyone with the courage of their convictions would use a real name and not hide behind AOL’s proxy network.
If “the ‘Zionists’ did it” is the most plausible explanation for the Sept. 11 attacks, then we can solve the energy crisis by manufacturing phlogiston. The “explanation” that “Able Dagger” and “Jaw Breaker” claim is the simplest only makes sense if you ignore the available facts or if you are so warped that the obvious inference from the available facts — that the Sept. 11 attacks were funded by a global network of retro-obsessed Islamist criminals and carried out by 19 upper-middle-class Arab men — is obscured by your frothing hate for some manufactured Other.

There are other forces that even Zionism and the Judeo Masonics are controlled under, and it is not Talmudism, it is not just Zionism. They all have their superiors they answer to, and that is the Luciferian ideology of the culture of death. The guise of Zionism or Masonry is just another distraction technique. Trying to identify people in that realm is nearly impossible, and turns into circular reasoning. Who are the Zionists? Who do the Zionists answer to? Who do THOSE people answer to? and so on and so on. Circular.
As for the intentional levee breaking, I absolutely agree. The motive behind the intentional levee breaking was the same motive behind the detonation of three skyscrapers in New York City on 9/11. The people behind these operate the same way. Per example: on 9/11, planes flying into buildings was the distraction, while the real damage was done by the detonation from the bombs planted in the building. Same case with Katrina. The hurricane and superdome was the distraction, while the evildoers were causing the real damage done by the detonation of explosives into the levee.
The “one-two degree” applies in all of the major events where mass murder is involved. And the same “one-two degree” is being applied now. After these events, Zionism and Masonry is there to take the blame as a distraction, while the real criminals plot another scapegoat ideology to take the blame as they compile notes for future attacks against humanity.

The conspiracy I would like to solve is this: Why are “Able Dagger” and “Stabbing Dagger” posting from the same IP address? Is there a whole Dagger family?
