free variable

This morning, I got a deluge of trackback spam, which makes ordinary comment spam look innocuous. I guess I should have realized it would arrive sooner or later. When I say “trackback spam,” I’m not referring to trackbacks like the one on this post. That sort of trackback points to an actual blog post but is merely discourteous and wastes my time, since the linked article has nothing to do with the post it tracks. Rather, I’m talking about a flood of malicious trackbacks that point to random spam sites. I’m thinking that I’ll have to use an analogous solution to the “comment spam nuclear option.”
